Like A Tree: The Tree’s Perpetuity

“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“His leaf also shall not wither”

Trees can live very long lives.

The fruit of one tree can spread and grow into more trees, all with their “lineage” pointing back to the first tree.

We can be planted next to the river of water and produce fruit and through that our leaves will not wither.

As I have been going through Psalm 1, I have been thinking a lot about the family, my family specifically.

I want to be as close to the river of water as possible, so that when my children (my fruit) grow up, they have a good chance of choosing to plant themselves next to the river of water also.

Our perpetuity doesn’t come from our money or our belongings, it comes from our legacy that we pass down to our children and their children.

The trees that have lived and lasted for a long time are trees that have weathered storm after storm.

We have to be like that if we want to last, we will have to weather some storms throughout life.

Colossians tells us to be “rooted and grounded” in the faith.

We have to have roots that go down deep in Christ. We have to be grounded in and on His Word.

We will not last, our legacy for Christ will not last, if we aren’t rooted and grounded in Him.

“that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭KJV‬‬
