“The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, There is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, And seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: There is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Psalm 14:1-3 KJV
There is so much that is stated in these three verses. From the fool that says there is no God, to the Lord looking for one that seeks after Him.
I believe we see two types of people stated in these verses.
First, we see the foolish person. The one who says there is no God. The one who is corrupt. The one who does abominable works.
This person, the foolish, lives life thinking they are their own god, that they don’t have to answer to anyone for what they do.
Secondly, we see the filthy person. This person, I believe, knows about God but has decided to turn from Him and go their own way. They have decided not to seek God and to live for God. I see this person as someone who has been saved but has chosen not to follow the Lord in living for Him and walking with Him.
Then we see the psalmist, end his description of both types of people with “there is none that doeth good.”
The second time it’s stated that “there is none that doeth good,” it is prefaced with “The Lord looked down from heaven.” What a sad thought when the Lord can’t find any that doeth good. We as sinners, are naturally not good, but the one good thing we can do is seek God.
If we seek God, the goodness that comes from that, will start to flow in other parts of our life.
Don’t be a fool!
Don’t be filthy!
Seek God!
Let the Lord look down and see good in your life!
