“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1
Stand fast – persevere.
You would think it is easy living in liberty and in the freedom of Christ.
You would think it’s easy to do right and follow Christ.
If it was so easy to live in liberty then why did Paul say “Stand fast?”
Paul said to stand fast, to persevere, because it’s easier to do wrong than right. It’s easier to act upon fleshly lusts and desires than to submit to the will of God. It’s easier to live life for self than to live for Christ.
But with that easiness comes the yoke of bondage. You become a slave to self, to sin. When you give in to self and sin, you become entangled. You get twisted up in the things of this world and it becomes hard to get out.
We have so much freedom in Christ, we just have to choose to live in Him. We have to daily decide to do right. We have to stand fast and persevere! Don’t give in to your selfish desires, don’t give in to temptation!
Stand fast!
Stand strong!
Be free!
