“From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.” Psalms 113:3
Many times I thank the Lord for the abundant blessings of my life. I thank Him for the house I live in. I thank Him for the church I’ve attended for over forty years. I thank Him for my provisions as in clothes, food, heat, water, for all my blessings.I’m thankful for my precious children and oh, so much, for my husband. I am thankful for 36 years of a Christ-centered marriage we shared together. I have thanked the Lord so many times for the greatest blessing I have ever received, my salvation. I have thanked Him for shedding His pure, sinless blood to wash my sins whiter than snow. Yes, blessing after blessing, so much to thank God for.
Yet, I find myself thanking Him for the little things in my life, too. The mundane and insignificant things creep into my thankfulness as I bare my heart to the Lord. Things such as the sheets on my bed, the fork in my silverware drawer, the dental floss in the medicine cabinet, even the throw rug I kneel on as I enter my ‘hiding place’ with the Lord. I have asked myself if praising Him for these little things, these little blessings, is foolish to Him.
As I study the Word of God I find that, yes, He is to be praised. Galatians 5:20 tells me to give thanks always for ALL things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. My heart smiles and is happy that my ‘little’ things are a part of the ‘all’ things I get to praise the Lord for. He loves to hear me thanking and praising Him for every bit of every day, for the blessings from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same.
So let us thank Him for that pencil, that pair of socks, that towel; He loves to hear us thank Him for not only the huge blessings but the little ones too!!
