Ezekiel 36:26-27 “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgements, and do them.”
Oh my, I think of His feather light touch of love on my heart. His soft gentle tough versus the hard brutish force on my heart. I think of dusting which is not one of my favorite chores around my house. A feather duster is one of the tools I can use. It is a soft, delicate tool that attacks the job and accomplishes the task. The feathers of the duster reach into the crevices and cracks to stir up and rid them of the dirt, the dust, hiding there. The stirred up dust attaches to the feathers of the duster eliminating the inevitable layer of dust, at least for a time. As I think of this chore, I would not use a hammer to dust as the pounding would mar and break my furniture. The hammer is a hard, and yes, brutish tool when used for dusting but is very useful as a tool when used for building a house or destroying a detrimental structure.I am so thankful that God does not use that hammer to touch my heart. I no longer have a hard, bitter, stony heart. He broke my heart when He died on the cross for me. That is the only time His hammer of love was needed. He broke the chains of my sin and exchanged it for the Blood of His Son.
Now God does ever so gently use His feather light touch of love on my heart. His soft, delicate touch of love breaks my heart through the whisper of His love. Yes, I am so undeserving but thankful He sees me through the Blood of the Lamb. I enjoy His feathery touch of His love every day instead of His hammering to break a heart of stone.
Let us remember to thank God for breaking our heart of stone through His sacrifice and thank Him daily for His feather light touch on a listening heart.
