Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, i will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
Choices…our lives are full of choices. We choose every single day, actually every moment of every day. Every choice we make impacts and determines the outcome of our life. I think of the things I was made to do as a child. I had chores. The chore may have been to clean up my bedroom, to do the dishes, or maybe the chore was to fold and put away the laundry. I really did not have the choice as they were my chores and my parents were the one who chose for me. Then there were things Ienjoyed doing because I loved doing them. I can remember walking through a snow-covered field carrying an armful of hay and a nosebag with grain in it. I made this trip out to feed Zelpha, my Welsh pony, not because I had to but because I wanted to. I loved her so it was an easy chore to do. I do remember the punishment for incomplete chores but I do not remember being punished for not taking care of her.
My Lord is so very gracious that He chooses to be with me. I think about how many saved sinners are alive at this very moment, yet He chooses to hear my heart, to catch my tears, to hear my prayers. He chooses to lead and guide me. He chooses to hold my heart in His heart just as He chose to give His life for my sin. He chooses to see the Blood that was applied and not my unworthiness. My Lord does not struggle with fulfilling His promises of love to me as it is not a duty; it is not a chore for Him.
Love is not a duty; it is a choice. He chose to love us! May we never forget how blessed we are!
