Mark 2:18 “When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
We deal, or have dealt, with many physicians throughout our lifetime. Those physicians deal with our physical body and through medical science try to heal and to soothe our aches and pains. They have studied and researched our ailments and have performed many different surgeries. They can attack diseases of the brain, the heart, the eye, the liver, the lungs, so many different disabilities can be addressed. Some of the diseases can be cured while some can not. Physicians try to do their best although they are not always successful.
One physician, the Great Physician, the King of Kings, the great Creator not only heals our physical ailments but created every bit of us. He spoke us into existence, every cell, every blood vessel, every bone and every organ. Not only has God created us, He can heal our physical body. Yet, He goes far above healing our physical body; He alone can heal our sin-sick soul. He heals our soul through only one balm, the Blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. Human physicians, no matter how trained or brilliant, can only touch and heal this earthly body. Those doctors cannot touch the spiritual body. They can influence the soul but cannot save it like they can save an eye, a baby, or a life. Only the Lord, the Great Physician, can save an organ, a life and a soul from death in Hell. Our focus should not be on earthy physicians with their human skill and knowledge, but rather on the Lord of all, our Great Physician.
Let’s keep our focus on the greatest of physicians, our Great Physician. He is the only physician that can heal our disease of sin through His sacrifice, His Son!
