1Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
Last night in church, the message was on “Spiritual Warfare and the Spirit.” The thought throughout the message was that being frustrated, irritated and stirred up all the time sometimes comes from evil spirits trying to get you as a Christian to fall or even quit.
The points were first to identify the source of the problem and secondly to fight the problem. When it comes to fighting the problem, we should pray, get in the Word of God, and listen to godly music. Music affects our spirit and it changes our emotions.
As I was thinking about the message, I got to thinking that what we put into our mind, whether in the form of music or books or movies…anything we listen to or watch…will affect our spirit.
What’s inside of us will eventually come out in the form of actions, attitude or speech.
I Peter 5:8 tells us to “Be sober, be vigilant” because the devil is looking for someone to devour.
Satan is looking for that person who is indulging in worldly things and not the things of God. He is looking for the one who isn’t sober, who isn’t vigilant. The devil is looking for the one who doesn’t have walls and boundaries in his because that is an easy target.
What we put into our life will either make us stronger spiritually or it’ll weaken us and make us easy prey for Satan.
Guard yourself. Be careful and wary of what you partake in. Give the devil no space in your life.
