It’s That Simple

“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: but if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Throughout life, I have learned to enjoy the simple things.

Bigger isn’t always better.

More doesn’t always bring happiness.

Being well-connected doesn’t always bring success.

Most times, better is always found in the simplest things. Less brings more contentment and joy. Singleness of heart and mind can bring the desire and drive to grow.

We as humans, tend to complicate everything when we try to speak more, do more and have more.

I’ve learned to enjoy the stillness of the morning, the quietness of the evening. I love spending time enjoying nature away from the busyness of life. Watching the sunrise or the sunset and enjoying God’s masterpiece brings peace to the soul.

Understanding that God created life to be simple, will increase your contentment and enjoyment in life.

As I read these two verses in Isaiah, I stopped and thought about what they were saying. I thought about how simple the statements were.

It comes down to this…

Do right and obey the Word of God, you will eat the good of the land.

Do wrong and rebel against the Word of God, you will be devoured by the sword.

I don’t subscribe to the prosperity gospel way of thinking but I do believe that obedience brings blessings. It may not be in the form of wealth or material things, but God does take care of His children.

If you disobey and go against God and His Word, well, you find out there are consequences to that. Sin is fun for a season, but there is always destruction of some sort at the end of the path of sin.

Life is simple. We make it hard. Our fleshly desires have a tendency of going against God. We have to be determined and disciplined to follow after the commands of God so that we can live a life of happiness in God.

Don’t make life hard on yourself. Serve the Lord and follow His Word.
