“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
When we are in the midst of the battle of the war within ourselves, we have to realize that we cannot and will not win it on our own. If we want to have true victory in our personal life, we have to realize that we will need help.
James gives us a few steps that we will need to follow to achieve victory.
The first and most important step is Submitting ourselves to God.
This sounds like it is easy to do but it is hard to accomplish and follow through on because we are prideful beings at our core.
To submit means to obey, to put yourself under subjection to. We don’t like to do that. We are creatures who think we know what’s best and can conquer anything on our own….and that’s why so many fail at life.
Submission to God is the only way we can be successful in our Christian life. If we want to follow Him and His Word, if we want to obey His commands, principles and doctrine, we will have to submit to Him.
We can win the battle in our heart and our soul and our mind if we don’t submit to God, to our leader. He has more steps to victory, but we have to submit and let Him take control in our life before we can conquer our lust and our flesh!
