Mountain Dew’ers in the Bible Pt. 2

The first Mountain Dew’er I want to bring to your attention is Noah.

Noah and the Mountain of Faith

Noah has become one of my favorite Bible characters over the last few months. The lessons we can learn as a Christian on how to live in the last days are amazing.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Genesis 6:5
God looked down out of Heaven and saw an earth full of people made in the image of Himself but living like the devil. In vs. 7 it says that the Lord was grieved in His heart. God was sad that he had created man, that man would turn his back on Him and not even acknowledge that he was God. He was so grieved that he set out to destroy man from the face of the earth.

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” Genesis 6:8
God in his anger and sadness of how mankind how turned their back him noticed ONE man, Noah. Noah amidst all the wickedness and evil on the earth walked with God. Noah’s FAITH in God played a big part in his life. He wasn’t worried about what was going on in the world around him, he wasn’t concerned that he was the only one walking with God, He just continued to walk with God.

Make thee an ark of gopher wood;” Genesis 6:14
Can you imagine the thoughts running through Noah’s head when God told him to build an ark? Can you imagine the questions that Noah had? Noah’s FAITH was on display as he put those first two pieces of wood together to start building. He had no idea what was going to happen. These are probably some of the questions that were running through Noah’s head…
      – What’s an ark?
      – What’s a flood?
      – How is something that big supposed to float?
      – God seriously wants me to get on this thing with all these animals?

Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” Genesis 6:22
Although it all sounded ridiculous, Noah had faith that God knew what He was talking about and he obeyed the commands of God. He built the ark according to God’s blueprint, loaded it according to God’s instruction and fulfilled all the commands of God. The world around Noah continued to live wickedly, they mocked him and told him he was crazy; yet Noah remained faithful to God.

The rain started to fall…

The flood waters started to rise…

God shut the door of the ark…

The wicked people realized they were on the wrong side of the door…

Only Noah and his family were saved, because of Noah’s faith…

And God remembered Noah” Genesis 8:1
This is one of my favorite phrases in the Bible. During the flood and the rain, God never forgot about Noah. God made the waters abate and soon enough the ark came to rest. “And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the MOUNTAINS of Ararat.” Genesis 8:4
Noah, because he was FAITHFUL, came out on a mountain. Noah was FAITHFUL to God and God was faithful to Noah.

Things to learn from Noah and the Mountain of Faith

1. In a wicked world, Noah still lived for and walked with God.
We as Christians CAN continue to live a Christian life, holy and separated unto the Lord. We do not have to be like every one else and conform to the world. God is looking for that one person that no matter what is going on around them, that will still walk with God.

2. Noah didn’t understand what God had planned, but he still obeyed the commands of God.
We may not understand everything that God has commanded us to do, but if we obey His commands we will be blessed. If Noah would have done one thing different, he would have not survived the flood. As a Christian, God has given us a blueprint on how to survive while living in this wicked world, forget to follow one command or try to do something your own way and life may end up in a flood of trials and troubles that you cannot imagine!

3. Noah ended up on top of a mountain because of the faith he had in God.
The mountain top can only be reached after the troubles and trials. Noah built the ark for 120 years, he had faith in God for a long time and God rewarded that faith. We may not see the end or the light in our troubles and dark times but always remember that through everything that God puts us through, He has a mountaintop for us to stand on.

4. God remembered Noah.
If you have faith in God, He will remember you. He will not leave you to sail through the storm on your on. He will not leave you to climb up the mountain by yourself. The Christian life is not always easy but the best thing about it is that God will never forget you. If you want God to be faithful to you, than you have to be faithful to God.

Do you have the faith that it takes to end up on the Mountaintop of Faith?

I can DO all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13
