Rules

“If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun.”

This is a quote I saw on someone’s Instagram photo. Sounds great, right?

Let’s start with the first rule, the first command that was given. God told Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree in the midst of the garden. They didn’t follow the rule, they thought they were having fun…look where we are today. All because someone decide not to follow a rule.

I look around and see many people who decided not to follow all the rules and guess what, it sure doesn’t look like fun. The pain and brokenness, the sadness and loneliness of those who decided to break the rules to have fun.

The devil paints sin with all the bright colors and lights, he makes it enticing, he draws you in with how “fun” it is! He doesn’t tell you that sin will ruin your life, he doesn’t tell you that you will lose everything to that addiction. Oh ya, you’re saying just one drink, one drag, one night and I won’t do it anymore….and it is one night after that and than another. Who cares about all those rules, who care about all those biblical principles, who cares! It’s all fun!

So don’t follow rules, have all the fun. Enjoy life right now, but don’t get upset and hurt when someone says, I told you so. I told you that’s where you would end up.

You see teenager, young adult, whoever you are, rules are to protect you. Rules are to guide you. Rules are to lead you the right way. Sometimes we don’t understand the rules, sometimes following the rules are boring; but, rules will lead you to a blessed happy life if you let them.
