If You Ain’t…

“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;” James 1:2

I always wondered what this verse meant every time I read it. I would always ask myself, ‘Why are we supposed to find joy in temptation?’ and ‘Divers temptations, what are those?’

To answer the last question first, divers temptations are several different kinds of temptations. Take for instance when Jesus was on the mount and Satan came and tempted Him, Satan tempted Christ with 3 different temptations or divers temptations.

Now let’s answer that first question, “Why are we supposed to find joy in temptation?” Here is the answer, the devil doesn’t tempt those who are doing nothing for Christ, he already has them. He is looking for that Christian who is serving Christ, who is doing what he is supposed to be doing! Satan just isn’t going to tempt you with one thing, he will keep trying and trying and trying and trying until he gets you to fall into sin and stop serving the Lord.

Find joy in the fact that Satan sees you as a threat to his campaign of sin! Find joy that if you are serving Christ, you have Christ on your side and He has given you all the tools needed to fight Satan. If the devil can steal your joy, he can steal you away from serving! Paul said “Rejoice in the Lord, always: and again I say, Rejoice.” Philippians 4:4 Paul knew from experience that hard times will come and that you would need to learn how to rejoice in the Lord.

IF YOU AIN’T WORKIN’, THE DEVIL AIN’T WORRIED!

IF YOU AIN’T SERVIN’, THE DEVIL AIN’T STRESSIN’!

IF YOU AIN’T DOIN’ NOTHING FOR GOD, THE DEVIL AIN’T TRYING TO MESS WITH YOU!
