On July 9th, the teens and juniors of Bethel Baptist Church will be heading out to youth camp at Royal C Ranch in Eufaula, Oklahoma. We are looking forward to this great time where God can work in the lives of these young people and even of the counselors that are going along also.
Youth camp will always hold a special place in my heart, not for what it has done for me (although it has done a lot) but for what it has done for my wife. Two years ago we went as counsellors with the youth from our church and on the last night of camp, God worked on my wife’s heart. The preaching wrapped up and the invitation was given and I saw my wife talk to another of the ladies and they walked out of the tabernacle.
I could tell that my wife was crying, so I started praying that God would just work on her heart and that she would take care of whatever God was dealing with her about. God was dealing with her about her salvation, or at that time her lack of it. After 2-3 hours of the devil fighting she finally gave in and asked Jesus Christ to save her. I remember sitting there in the woods, praying and praying and praying. I didn’t care what was going on around me, I was talking to God that night and I know He was listening and He answered that prayer that night as my wife got gloriously saved!
So yes, youth camp is for the youth but God can still do something great in the lives of the adults! Be in prayer for us as we travel out to Oklahoma in a few weeks that God would protect us and keep us safe and also that He would do something great in the lives of everyone going!
Leading up to the camp, the youth group has been doing fundraisers to try and raise money for camp and other trips. This Saturday, they are holding a car wash to help with their fundraising. Please pray that it will be a success!
