Be Sober, Be Vigilant

Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you tried, you were still failing?

Have you ever made a decision to do more for the Lord and felt like everything just got harder?

The devil isn’t after the one living in sin, enjoying the things of the world. He is after the child of God who is trying to live a life pleasing to God. He is after the one who decided to follow Jesus.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” I Peter 5:8

The word sober here in this verse doesn’t mean that you are not drunk or intoxicated. Sober, in this verse, means marked by temperance and moderation and seriousness. Peter is telling us that we need to be serious about this thing called Christianity because Satan is serious about destroying us.

He then tells us to be vigilant or watchful. We need to be watching out for any attacks that Satan brings! Satan will attack when we least expect it, that is why we need to stay vigilant!

There are no off days in Christianity. When you take an off day, you relax, you leave yourself vulnerable. Taking an off day in the Christian life is opening the door for Satan to attack you.

The devil will attack when decisions are made.

The devil will attack when direction is determined.

The devil is always ready to attack. He is walking, seeking those whom he can devour. His number one goal is to attack Christians and get them to stop serving God. Don’t be a casualty in the battle. Be sober, be vigilant!
