A Daily Rededication

Growing up in church, I have seen many people rededicate their lives to the the Lord. I have seen people who have been out of church for a long time who come back and publicly rededicate their lives to the Lord. I have also seen people who are faithful in church and in their ministries who have gone forward and rededicated their lives to the Lord. Recently I have seen people from both of these groups rededicate their lives to the Lord. I got to thinking about rededication and what it means to us as Christians.

First I looked up the definition of ‘dedication’. It means the quality of being dedicated or committed to a task or purpose. As a Christian, we should be dedicated to the task of serving the Lord and committed to the purpose of telling other people about Christ.

Next I looked up ‘re-‘. This word when used as a prefix means once more, afresh, anew. Rededication essentially means to dedicate or commit once more, make the a previous dedication new and fresh.

I am sure at some point in every Christian’s life, they have dedicated themselves to the Lord. And I am also sure that at some point many of us have rededicated our lives as we have lost focus on what we truly needed to be doing.

I have come to the conclusion that every day we should rededicate our life to the Lord. In the course of the day, with all the distractions that the world offers and everything the devil throws our way, we probably lose our focus. When we lose our focus day after day and never get it fixed, we will end up totally off the path that God wants us on. We will end up in a position where we need to rededicate our life and it will be hard to get back to the place where God wants us because we got so far away. If we rededicate on a daily basis, our focus will always be where it is supposed to be. Our goals and desires in life will alway be what they are supposed to be.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I read these verses and I see that we should present our bodies a living sacrifice unto God, I see that we should dedicate our lives to God. He wants us to be dedicated to live a holy and acceptable life. He wants us to be transformed and not be conformed. He wants us to live in His will for our lives. For us to be in His will, we have to dedicate ourselves to Him. We have to be focused and committed, we have to strive, we have to everything we can to live for Him.

The devil doesn’t make it easy to live for Christ. The world doesn’t make it easy to live for Christ. Our flesh doesn’t make it easy to live for Christ. Because we have all these things trying to sway us, I believe that we should just rededicate ourselves every single day. Don’t wait until you are far off the path and where God wants you to be. Rededicate daily!

Every morning, pray and ask God for His strength to guide you during the day.

Every morning, pray for God’s wisdom for everything you face during the day.

Every morning, pray and give yourself to the yielding of the Holy Spirit.

Every morning, pray and dedicate your life to Christ for that day. Be focused on following His will. Be committed unto Him.
