Boxing, MMA….these sports are individual competitions in which one person tries to outmuscle, out fight the other. Much time and training goes into preparing for each match and each competitor knows they have to be at their best to win, and sometimes their best isn’t enough and they lose.
We saw a boxing match the other night between Floyd Mayweather and Conor MacGregor. A great boxer versus a great MMA fighter. The outcome was what many thought it would be, the boxer (Mayweather) won the boxing match. Leading up to the fight, both men thought they would win, both men trained like they would win yet only one emerged as the victor.
As a Christian, we are in a fight every single day of our life. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walkathon about, seeketh whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same affliction are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” I Peter 5:8-9
Satan is our adversary. He wants to knock us out. He wants us to lose. He wants to injure us and put us on the sideline. Satan will use anything and everything he can to get us to quit, to fail, to make us lose. Look at the life of Job and everything Satan did to him.
What will you do to keep Satan from defeating you?
Every day is a battle, every day is a fight. What will you do win? Satan will use the things of this world and the lust of the flesh and the pride of life to keep us from serving the Lord. These are the weapons that Satan will use to defeat us.
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11 God doesn’t leave us defenseless or weaponless. He gives us the armour we need and also the weapons we need. It is up to us to put on each piece of armour that the God gives us and it is up to us to arm ourselves each day.
You and I are in a fight, we are in a fight every single day of our life. Win or lose, it is your choice. Satan will come at you full force every day, make sure you defend yourself and arm yourself everyday with the armour of God.
Every day there will be a victor, will it be you or Satan?
