This past Sunday morning I heard a really good message about working for Christ. It confirmed everything that God had been convicting me for the last few weeks. The text verse used was “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” Ecclesiastes 9:10
I know the preacher mentioned something along the lines of finding work to do for Christ and as soon as he said that, my mind and my heart started looking at my life and the work I am currently and have done for Christ. I was convicted!
I got to a point last year where I let some things go in my service to Christ. I stepped out of a few ministries, missed way to many church services and overall I started backsliding. My attitude was wrong, I became very self-centered. I just wasn’t being a good Christian, a good servant of Jesus Christ.
As I listened to the message Sunday morning, I realized I had stopped looking for work to do for Christ. God used that word “findeth” for a reason. Yes, He gives us commands of what we should do like attend church, tithe, go soulwinning, have a walk with Him…we shouldn’t have to look for these things, we should just do them. God wants us to find something to do, find a ministry to serve in, find a Sunday school class to teach, find people to minister to. I had stopped looking to serve, I had stopped trying to help others. I realized Sunday that I needed to start back into doing something more than just attending church, I needed to find a ministry to serve.
Hey Christian, have you stopped looking for ways to serve Christ? The Bible tells us that “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…” The word “findeth” in this verse tells us that we have to look. You have to look for ways to serve Christ! The bus ministry is a great way to serve (which I am getting back into), being a Sunday School teacher, these and many more are great ways to serve! Once you FIND something to do, do it with all your might! Put your heart and mind and soul into doing the best you can to serve the Lord by serving others!
Ask yourself today, “Did I stop looking?”
If the answer is “Yes,” than find something to do for Christ!
