We see the term “Sunday Funday” used a lot on social media, whether it’s a hashtag or a filter or a sticker you put on a picture. Most of the time when is see this term being used, it’s for going out to eat, attending some sporting event or concert, or doing some activity with family and friends.
We have lost the meaning of Sunday. We have taken a day that has been set aside by God and turned it into a day of fun and pleasure. What has happened to Sunday being the Lord’s Day?
This morning I was on the bus route as we were picking people up for church and I thought to myself, this is where the fun is at! My Sunday is fun when I’m serving the Lord. My Sunday is fun when I’m attending church and hearing the Word of God preached!
Let’s take the ‘Sunday Funday’ term and turn it back into Sunday is the Lord’s Day. Let us find happiness in joy in serving Him! Let’s have fun at church!
“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.” Psalms 122:1
Totally agree! It saddens me to see that hashtag used so much.
