“Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord , and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Delight thyself also in the Lord ; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the Lord ; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Rest in the Lord , and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord , they shall inherit the earth.
For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.”
Psalms 37:1-10
Fret means to be constantly and visibly worried, to be in a state of anxiety or worry.
God tells us just in these 10 verses to fret not three times. God doesn’t want us to fret or worry or be anxious. He especially doesn’t want us to fret because of the world and the wickedness that’s in it.
In verse 1, God tells us to fret not because of the evildoers. God doesn’t want us to worry about the wickedness of the world. No matter how bad things get, God is still in control.
In verse 5, God tells us not fret because of those who prospereth in their own way. Don’t worry about how successful people are around you, most of them are out of the will of God for their lives and are living to be bring prosperity to themselves and not to serve God.
In verse 8, God tells us not to fret so much that we end up doing something we shouldn’t do. When you worry and get anxiety over everything, we don’t make the right decisions like we should.
“But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord : he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.” Psalms 37:39-40
At the end of the chapter, we see that the Lord takes care of those that trust in Him. Your worrying and anxiousness will bring you nothing. Just put it all in God’s hands and let Him care for you!
