A Letter to my Father

Dear Dad,

Dad you are the best role model I could have as a father. I called you this morning to wish you a “Happy Father’s Day” and I interrupted your Bible reading. I remember as a kid all the times I interrupted your Bible reading and you always made time for me.

Dad, thank you for loving me even when I was hard to love! When I did stupid things, you were always there with your fatherly love and advice.

Dad, thank you for teaching me to work hard. You taught me to always give my best no matter what I was doing. You taught me to work hard to support my family. I work hard now because of my name, I don’t want to let you down.

Dad, thank you for teaching me to respect authority. You taught me to respect authority whether it was you or mom, or the school teacher, or the preacher. A saying that you taught me, I still remember “Respect the position, whether or not you respect the person in the position.”

Dad, thank you for teaching me how to love my family. I know you love mom and us kids and if you could ever do anything for us, you would. I hope I can love my family like you loved us.

Dad, most of all, thank you for teaching me to love Christ, love the Bible and love church. You taught me that the Christian life is the best life, no matter how hard it gets. Thank you for being faithful to Christ even when it was hard.

Dad, I hope I can be half the man you are! I love you so much! Happy Fathers Day!
