3 Choices to Make Every Day

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

Today’s post is a sequel to yesterday. It is Part 2. But it can stand alone on its own!

Choices define us.

Choices determine our direction.

Choices direct our destiny.

We make so many choices every day. Starting from the time we get up and continuing until the time we go to bed. We are constantly making choices.

Many of us have routines that we follow. That routine has been determined by choices that we make. We have habits that we act daily, all programmed by consistent choices that we have made.

As we talked about yesterday, the choice between serving God and serving the flesh, is the greatest choice we will make every single day. As we choose to serve God, there are three significant choices we need to make each day to help us in our choice of serving God.

Choose to Forfeit Your Will

“I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1-2

If we are going to choose to serve God, we have to choose to forfeit our will every day. We have to lay our life down on the altar of sacrifice and live a life as God would want us to live. We have to decide that we want to be like Christ and not like the world. We have to decide to be different from the world instead of being conformed to the world. We have to be transformed, be something different in this wicked world. Forfeit, give up, let go of your desires and wants. Choose to fulfill the will of God every day for your life.

Choose to Follow Him

“And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, SImon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:18-19

After we forfeit our will, the next step is choosing to follow Him. These two men, Peter and Andrew, were faced with a choice. They had to decide whether to follow Christ or keep on fishing. Forfeiting your will and following Christ go hand in hand. You really can’t have one without the other. You have to choose both or neither! We see in verse 20, that they immediately left their nets to follow Christ. Once we make the decision to follow Him, don’t look back at what you left behind, keep following!

Choose to Fight the World

“Wherefore take unto the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13

We are told to take the whole armor of God so that we can stand in the evil day. We are living in the evil day. You do not take armor if you aren’t planning on fighting! We have to choose every day to fight the wickedness and sin of this world. The best way we can is to avoid it, abstain from it and live a righteous, holy life that is pleasing unto the world. If you do not choose to do right, you will eventually do wrong. You have to make a conscious decision that you will do right and live by the Word of God.

Each one of these three choices go hand in hand. You cannot have one without the other. But each one is a choice that has to….needs to….be made every single day!!

Choose you this day… to forfeit you will.

Choose you this day… to follow Him.

Choose you this day… to fight the world.
