Have you ever asked yourself what is the greatest thing you can do for Christ?
I was thinking about this thought the other day and I asked myself, “what is the greatest thing I can do for Christ?”
Is it go to church every time the doors are open?
Is it giving tithes and offerings?
Is it being separated from the world in my daily standards and living?
Is it avoiding all appearances of evil?
These are are all good things and things that should be done as a Christian, but they aren’t the greatest thing!
“Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
Matthew 22:35-40 KJV
The greatest commandment that was ever given was and is to love God. When I think how do I love God, I think of one thing, I have to spend time with Him. You have to walk with Him, you have to have a personal relationship with Him!
Adam and Eve had a set time to walk with God in the garden. One day, after they had disobeyed God, they didn’t show up to walk with God and God went looking for them. We see God curse them and kick them out of the garden because they had disobeyed. I always wonder what if they would have showed up to walk with God, would God have forgiven them? Just a thought…
Enoch, probably the most famous man who walked with God. The Bible says he was not, for God took him. Enoch was so close to God that God decide it would just be easier to take Enoch so they could have an even closer fellowship and relationship.
Walk with God! That is the greatest thing you can do as a Christian! If you truly are walking with God, everything else that you should do as Christian will fall into place!
