“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
Today is a tough day for me. It was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life and now it’s another day of sorrow that has been abundant this year in my life.
Heading into today, I have been praying for peace and comfort in my life and in my family’s lives.
Getting through today, and even this period of life, has taken peace from God that honestly surpasses my understanding.
I see in verse six, it says “let your requests be made known unto God.” The more I talk to God, the more I tell Him what’s going on in my life (although He already knows), the more I rely on God; I start to find more peace in life. I’m not saying life is better, but I have found some peace in the roughest of storms. Peace that even I can’t understand.
When I tell God what I need, He brings peace. That peace will keep my heart and mind on Christ. The reason why this is important, is because Christ is the answer to every problem. He is the calm in every storm. He is the water in the desert. He is a help when I’m hurting. Christ is everything I need, and when I realize that and lean on Him, He gives me the peace to make it through any day, any trial, any problem.
Like the saying goes,
Know God, know peace. No God, no peace.
