“For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.” Psalms 86:5
I read this verse today and it made me stop and think about how many times I didn’t call upon the Lord. I didn’t call on Him because I thought I was too far gone in that moment. I didn’t call upon Him because I thought my sin was too much in that moment. I thought about the times when I should have called upon Him but my pride and selfishness stopped me, I thought I could do it on my own.
This verse tells us what our Lord is to us.
The Lord is good!
The Lord forgives!
The Lord is merciful!
Yet so often, we try to go through life on our own and the Lord is just waiting for us to call upon Him.
The Lord has good for us, but we don’t call on Him. We try to make it happen ourselves. Sometimes it may work out for good, other times it just falls apart. I know I have missed out on some good things from the Lord because I’ve tried to handle them on my own. But I have seen the goodness of the Lord many times in my life because I have called upon Him.
I think sometimes we are ashamed to go to the Lord and ask for forgiveness where we have failed Him. What we forget is that He already knows, He is just waiting for us to humble ourselves and repent and ask for His forgiveness. He is ready to forgive us.
The Lord has plenty of mercy for us. He has plenty of kindness and compassion to pour out on us. Sometimes we miss it, because we aren’t close to Him.
Why try to live life on your own?
The Lord has everything we need.
