Pathway Through Proverbs: Chapter 5

Chapter 5: He Sees it All

I read this chapter through a couple times today looking for that one thing that stuck out. Each time I read it, the same verse caught my attention. To me this verse seemed like a familiar verse, like I have heard sermons and lessons on it. As I sat here and thought about it, I can’t recall a sermon on it or even a lesson, I couldn’t think of anything I have heard on this verse. So I did a little studying and asked one of the wisest men I know (my dad) what it meant.

“For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.” Proverbs 5:21

When I read this verse, the main thing I see is that all my ways are before the eyes of the Lord. He sees everything we do. It’s crazy to think that He watches our every move. If we lived our life with the thought that Jesus is watching, what would we change? Would we continue doing what we are doing, or would we start living and acting better? The Lord sees our ways whether we are in public or in private. You cannot hide from God!

There are many Christians today, that live one way at church and one way at home and then even another way at their job. We need to stop and realize that no matter where we are at, the Lord sees it all.

Solomon was trying to teach his son this simple truth that no matter what you do, no matter where you are at, remember the Lord is watching. If we, as a Christian, can remember this simple lesson, it will change our whole life and the way we act.

Before you do something, remember that the Lord is watching you. If you don’t think that the Lord would approve then don’t do it. It is that simple!
