In Sunday School this morning, we heard a good lesson on being an example. Now the lesson was directed to the teenagers but it’s applications are for everyone.
Each Christian is an example, whether a good example or a bad example. People around us are watching us to see how we act as Christians.
“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12 KJV
God tells us the different areas that we need to be an example in.
In word – what we say. Our speech should be honoring and uplifting!
In conversation – how we live. People should watch our life and be able to tell we are Christians.
In charity – how we love. Our love towards others should be unmatched. We should be loving and caring to those we come in contact with.
In spirit – our attitude. We should have a joyful spirit. Christ is our Saviour, we have nothing to be down or depressed about.
In faith – our Christianity. We should know what we believe and why we believe it. We shouldn’t be swayed by every new thing that comes along.
In purity – blameless. Avoid all appearance of evil. We need to live a life above blame.
Wherever you are be an example.
