“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” Colossians 2:6-8
Spoiled Christianity
Spoiled – to damage severely or harm, especially with reference to its excellence, value, usefulness, etc.: to diminish or impair the quality of; to affect detrimentally; to impair, damage, or harm the character or nature of someone by unwise treatment, excessive indulgence, etc.
Satan’s number one goal is to destroy the Christian. That is his way at getting back at God for kicking him out of Heaven. The way Satan gets the Christian is by destroying the Christian’s Christianity. He wants to spoil your Christianity. He wants to damage your Christianity and diminish its effectiveness in your life and the lives of others.
Christians need to be rooted in Christ. We need to know why we believe what we believe and why we practice what we practice. A root system doesn’t just go straight down into the ground, it branches out to give the plant stability during storms. Too many Christians have shallow roots and when a storm blows, they just topple over and are blown away.
Christians need to be built up in Christ. The roots, or foundation, is the part that is underneath the ground that no one can see. Without it, the plant or structure will not stand. When we are built up in Christ, that is what others can see. Being built up in Christ is the Christianity that we display on a daily basis. It is what others see of us. We need to live a life that is not only grounded in Christ but also displays Christ through our actions.
Christians need to be established in the faith. Our faith in Christ and His Word is what will help us through the good times and the bad times. Yes, we have to place our faith and trust in Christ to save us, but don’t let it stop there. Place your faith in Christ to supply your needs, to comfort you during sad times, to calm the storm. Build and establish your faith in CHrist as that is what makes us a stronger Christian.
Satan sees you trying to be rooted in Christ. Satan sees you building your life in Christ.Satan see you trying to strengthen your faith in Christ. What does he want to do with that? He wants to spoil you! He wants to damage and destroy you and make you and your testimony useless for Christ.
Satan is out to spoil your Christianity!
He wants to…
Strip your treasure
Pierce your heart
Oppress your spirit
Injure your testimony
Laugh at your foolishness
Like I mentioned the other day, we have to be sober and vigilant so that Satan can’t get in and spoil us.
