In this world today, I am bothered by the amount of Christians who are lowering their standards. I am 30 years old and I am seeing preachers and preacher’s wives, staff members, people who I am supposed to ‘look up’ to in the Christian life, lower their standards. For what??
We as Bible believing Christians have a duty, a responsibility, to live a consecrated and separated life for Christ. The Bible says in Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” We are called to be transformed, not conformed. Yet, we have many Christians, who are conforming to the ways of this world.
It is time that we as Christians, double down on our Christianity.
Double down means to become more tenacious, zealous or resolute in a position or undertaking.
Tenacious, zealous, resolute…all words with a strong meaning.
Tenacious means a.) tending to keep a firm hold of something; clinging or adhering closely b.) not readily relinquishing a position, principle, or course of action; determined c.) persisting in existence; not easily dispelled.
When it comes to holding to the Word of God and our Christianity, we need to be tenacious. We need to hold fast to the commands found in the Bible. We shouldn’t relinquish the standards that God has laid out for us in His Word!
Zealous means having or showing zeal. Zeal means great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective.
Christians should be zealous. We have the greatest cause in living for Christ and be a witness for Christ! We should have a great energy about us, an enthusiasm that can’t be matched when it comes to our service for Christ.
Resolute means admirably purposeful, determined, and unwavering.
Be purposeful. Be determined. Be unwavering. Be resolute in your faith towards Christ.
We need to double down on our Christianity! The world is out there doubling down on their wickedness and becoming increasingly wicked.
I look around and I see many people lowering their standards and backing off certain convictions. For what?? To attract people? Why are we leaving the standards of the Bible to appease the worldly crowd? Or are we tired of fighting to do right?
Christ could come back any day, how will He find you? Compromising and conforming to the world or will He find you fighting for the truth and following His commands?
It is time that we double down on our Christianity! That we hold fast to the Scriptures with a tenacious grip, a zealous attitude and a resolute perspective!
