No matter what is going on, we can have peace. We can have peace if we know where true peace comes from, and that is God. “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 This is Jesus speaking in this verse, and we see see that peace is through Him. Christ so clearly states that in Him is peace and in the world is tribulation.
Have you ever wondered why you are going through rough times. It seems that life is just full of storms, maybe you have too much world in your life and not enough Christ in your life. Christ will bring peace to your life if you let Him!
How do we gain peace through Christ. Simple, have a relationship with Him. Read His Word. Talk to Him daily. Serve Him with your life.
The true peace that comes from Christ has some benefits to it.
Peace through Christ will give protection to your mental and spiritual well-being. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7 We see here that the peace of God will keep our heart and our mind through Christ Jesus. We are weak, we are defenseless in this world if we don’t have Christ. If we are a saved, child of Christ, having a close relationship with Him, we can have the peace that will protect us from the attacks of Satan and the world. In the following verses of Philippians 4, we see that we are given instruction on how to think and what to think on. We are given instruction on being content. Then we also see that we should have confidence in Christ as He will help us in all things.
Peace through Christ will give a passive spirit when wronged. “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.” Psalms 119:165 I don’t read this verse as a verse that says that we should never get offended, I read it as a verse that says that when we are wronged by family or friends or whoever, we won’t be offended. I believe that we should be offended when the world pushes sin and evil and wickedness down our throats, but when someone says something bad about us or gossips about us or hurts our feelings, we shouldn’t get offended. We should be passive when it comes to petty things in life. We let the littlest things offend us and get us off track of serving God! We need get in the Word of God and love His Word and we will learn how to forgive and forget like He does, and we won’t be offended over every little thing that comes our way!
We need peace through Christ if we are going to live a life for Him. “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6 Our thoughts, our actions, our talk, everything we do should be based off of the Bible, we need to be spiritually minded if we are ever going to have peace. If we let the world, the flesh and the devil rule our minds, we will be confused, we will have trouble, and ultimately death…whether it be physical death or spiritual death!
You can have peace! Live your life following Christ and His Word and you will find peace!
