Rise With Christ

It has been a few days since I last posted. I have been busy family, church and work and then trying to find some sleep in between all those things. We had a Preacher’s Conference last Monday and Tuesday at church and my cup was filled! I am thankful that I go to a church that still holds true to the King James Bible, still practices separation from the world, hasn’t gone contemporary and if anything has made a stronger stand for the things of God.

Anyways, I noticed a truth this past week in Sunday School from Colossians 3:1. “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.”

I want to take that first phrase from the verse and use it today to motivate and encourage us to have a better daily walk with God. It says, “If ye then be risen with Christ…” Every morning we rise out of bed to start our day, do we rise up with Christ on our mind or with the daily tasks we have ahead.

God is a God of order. You see that here in this verse. He says if you rise with Christ, then you will seek the things above, and in verse two you see that God tells us to set our affection on things above. You will never seek the things of Christ or want to set your affection on the things of Christ if you never start your day with Christ, if you never Rise with Christ!

No matter what time you start your day, you can rise with Christ.

How can you start your day with Christ? How do you rise with Christ?

First, wake up and thank Him for another day. Don’t start your day thinking about your problems and everything you got going on, thank God that you have another to live and serve Him.

Then you can start thanking Him for things He has blessed you with. You don’t have to spend an hour thanking God for everything, but spend a couple minutes just thinking about what God has given you and thanking Him for it.

After you finish thanking God, you should take and put on the whole armour of God as found in Ephesians 6. We need the armour of God for protection throughout the day. We will face the world, the flesh and the devil throughout the day and we need to be equipped in our spiritual warfare.

Lastly, spend a few minutes in God’s Word before you do anything else. You can read a chapter of Proverbs or a few Psalms or whatever you want, but spend time reading God’s instruction manual on life before you do anything else.

We have too many Christians, myself included, who do not rise with Christ everyday. These Christians then don’t seek after the things of Christ or set their affection on the things of Christ. These Christians fall into the worldly trap of money and popularity and forget what their real goals and focus and should be.

Rise with Christ every day and your affections and the things you seek after will change.
