So it’s Friday, the first day we can see the sun in like a week! We have had 3 winter storms come through with about 8-10 inches of snow!
We as a family were supposed to take a trip out to Colorado last week and we were going to be getting back in on Sunday. A few weeks ago, I just had this gut feeling that we shouldn’t take that trip. Now I believe it was the Lord leading us to just do a ‘staycation’ and not take that trip to keep us safe! We would have spent Saturday and Sunday driving through snowstorms in the Midwest and by the time we got back, we probably wouldn’t have had time to properly prepare and stock up for the week. God really does watch over His own and protect them, even if we don’t understand at the beginning!
Now being a Colorado kid, I’ve enjoyed it! But living in Mississippi and getting this much snow is a different story! I’ve been out here for about 9 years now and I’ve seen a light dusting shut everything down! Getting this much snow has crippled the area! Grocery stores are barely stocked, gas stations are out of gas, it’s crazy to see the low supply of necessities everywhere!
Now I know that Texas is really struggling right now as they are worse off then we are, we have been praying for everyone who has been affected by this weather every night before we go to bed! Pray for Texas and all those that have been affected adversely by this weather!
As crazy as the weather has been, I’m reminded of a couple Bible verses that I have been thinking about this week that I would like to share with you today.
“God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.”
Job 37:5-6 KJV
This past week, I’ve seen conspiracy theories about the weather and this storm. I’ve seen Christians say how snow on Sundays hurts the cause of Christ. I’ve seen interesting comments and have heard interesting things about snowstorms, but I always think back to the verse above. It’s God who causes the snow. It’s God who controls the weather. It’s God who is in charge. I’m so amazed at how great God is! I enjoyed standing at the window and just watching the snow fall to the ground! It’s so peaceful and calming! No matter what your thoughts on snow are, just remember it was God who allowed it to fall!
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”
Psalms 51:7 KJV
In Psalms 51, David is praying and asking forgiveness for the sins he had committed. In his prayer, he asks the Lord to wash him and he will be whiter than snow. When I watched the snow fall this past week and then seeing it on the ground when it was untouched, the color of white was like nothing else! When God cleanses us, we become whiter than snow! We are pure in Gods eyes, but it all starts with us asking forgiveness for our sins!
There are quite a few great verses about snow but these two were ones that I thought about often this week.
It was nice to stop and enjoy family time this week! I’m so thankful and blessed that God protected us this week and kept us safe through the snowstorm.
To all those that are hurting because of this weather, I want you to know that my family and I have prayed multiple times for health and safety for everyone who has been impacted in some way.

Counted Faithful 
For the life of me, I can’t figure out how snow can part a conspiracy. That’s funny stuff, if you really think about it.
At any rate, the weather has been a blessing to me, and a much-needed change of pace. I was really looking forward to going to church last Sunday as I felt like my spirit genuinely needed it. It was cancelled though. Then, Wednesday services were cancelled. Now (Saturday), the church is uncertain about Sunday services. It’s kind of a bummer, but at the same time, the time with family (including snow playtime) and the slower pace has been so pleasant. My spirit is more at peace and rest today than it has been in a while, and I’m thankful for that. The way I see it is that the snow/ice has provided me something like a week-long Sabbath.
