12 Years

Today, 12 years ago, I graduated high school. If you do the math, I graduated on 06/06/06. Being a graduate from a Christian school, at a Baptist church, we did have a discussion about graduating on a day with three 6s. Because you know, 666 is the antichrist’s number.

But when I walked across that platform, I thought I knew what I was doing with my life and where I was going. I thought I was going to graduate from Bible college in 4 years, find a wife, and be working on staff at a church somewhere. I thought my road was going to be easy.

But was I wrong! 12 years later, still haven’t graduated Bible college. I am not on staff at a church like I thought I would be. I’m honestly where I never dreamed I would be.

12 years later, I am married to a beautiful and have two beautiful little girls. 12 years later, I have been blessed with a good job that I can support my family with. 12 years later, I faithfully attend church and work in various ministries.

The road I have been on the last 12 years, the journey I have had from walking across the stage and graduating, to where I am at now, I wouldn’t trade for anything!

It hasn’t always been easy and trust me, I learned many of life’s lessons the hard way! I was stubborn and hard-headed with a rebellious streak when I first graduated high school. I thought I was a man, that no one could tell me what to do and that I, in a sense, was invincible!

Over the years, I have learned that serving God is still the best thing to do. Being faithful to church and raising my family in church is still the best thing to do.

So no matter where the next 12 years take me, I still want to be ‘Counted Faithful’ to the Lord and His work!
