“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
Philippians 1:6
Last night, my wife and I were talking about the subject of being confident and what it means when it comes to serving the Lord. Then today, this verse shows up as the verse of the day and I got to thinking some more about the subject of being confident.

God has call each one of us to a good work. He has something that He wants each one of us to fulfill and accomplish in our lives. Paul is telling us that if we have been called, we can be confident in knowing that God will help us carry out that work.
I have a few areas that I believe that we should be confident in, and have confidence in Christ that He will help us in these areas.
The first is Salvation. I am confident in Christ that He will save me if I put my faith and trust in Him. When I accepted Christ as my Saviour, I was unsure about His power and ability to save me. I had complete and total confidence in His Word that what He said He would do, He would do! We can have confidence in salvation through Jesus Christ!
Next we can have confidence in our Soul winning. We can have confidence in telling others about the saving power of Jesus Christ! It worked for us, why won’t it work for someone else. Telling other people about Jesus Christ and how He alone can save them is the number responsibility of every single Christian! There is no need to be scared or intimidated by the world, being a witness is a good work, and we are to be confident in what we are called to do!
We can have confidence in our Service. I like to think that being a soul winner and being a servant are two different aspects of the Christian life, yet we are called to do both. If God has called you to serve in some area of church, and I believe there is a place for everyone, you can have confidence that God will help you in that service, in that good work. Too many Christians sit idly by for whatever reasons, but I think one of the big reasons is they lack confidence. We have to realize that whatever God has called us to do, He has equipped us to perform that good work, and we can find confidence in Him.
Then lastly, our Standards are something we can take confidence in. I look around and I see a lot of Christians giving in to worldly fashion and worldly living. They have lost confidence in the standards that God has given to us in His Word. We are called to look different, be different, act different and talk different than the worldly crowd. When I see Christians that are dropping their standards, I see people that have lost confidence in God and what He can do if they live according to His Word. Be peculiar, be confident in being different!
Whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you can find confidence in Christ to fulfill His will for your life!
